Happy National Peanut Butter Day! In honor of the all important foodie holiday I’ve rounded up 5 healthy ways to eat peanut butter. So now you can enjoy the delicious spread all day long.
I love peanut butter but my Mom is a full-blown Peanut Butter addict! There is nothing that can keep her away from a jar. Even the warning sign I taped on the pantry door doesn’t slow her down. But can you blame her?
Spread it on an apple, put it in your oatmeal, or devour it by the spoonful…… it’s just perfect. Plus its packed with protein and good for you fats. So crack open the nearest jar and lets celebrate national peanut butter day together from breakfast to dessert.
Healthy Ways to Eat Peanut Butter
A full day of peanut butter eats!
Breakfast – Baked Peanut Butter French Toast
When you stuff peanut butter into french toast and it oozes over the sides as it gets warm and toasty, yummmmmmmy! French toast goes to a whole new level my friends! Plus its low-calorie and because the peanut butter melts a little goes a long way.
Snack – Solo
Peanut butter is just so good on its own. A light smear on apples is one of my favorite snacks or you can just go straight up, spoon to mouth. Now proceed with caution when going this route. If your like my mom, putting down the peanut butter jar after just two tablespoons is not going to happen . Since most peanut butters are 190 calories per serving I suggest some portion control like I talk about in this Post HERE.
Lunch – Banana Baked Oatmeal Bars
Peanut butter, banana and chocolate is a can’t beat combo. Use up those browning bananas and get your peanut butter fix with these filling energy bars. Perfect for a grab and go lunch paired with some fresh fruit and since the pb is baked in with the bars you have automatic portion control.
Or you can always go with the classic Pb and J. See how I make mine low-calorie HERE.
Dinner – Pasta Sauce
Have you tried adding peanut butter to pasta sauce or soup? It adds a nutty flavor and extra silky texture. Whisk in a dollop to my Vodka Sauce and serve over a bed of pasta, zoodles, or meatballs for a strange but good dinner.
Sweet Treat – Yogurt Dip
Mix creamy peanut butter into nonfat greek yogurt for a light and tangy dipping sauce for fresh fruit. Adding just a tablespoon of the spread to yogurt stretches those calories so you can have peanut butter flavor in larger amounts without exceeding your fat for the entire day.
Need something more decadent tasting? Try a Cookie Dough Brownie for the ultimate dessert! Peanut butter makes the cookie dough swirl swoon worthy and at only 170 calories you can enjoy guilt free.
And now you have 5 healthy ways to eat peanut butter! Enjoy a peanut butter filled day.
