Hello all! Today in Florida was a busy day full of lots of fun! I went golfing, swimming, shopping, and had the best pizza of my life! Plus, I’ve got an October special for you, Candy Corn Strawberries!
Its Wednesday, so I’m linking up with Laura for another WIAW. Plus I’m getting in the fall spirit with some super simple candy corn strawberries. Fun to make, a lot less sugar than real candy corn, and even more fun to eat.
I wanted something easy and simple for an earlier than usual breakfast. I resorted to an all time favorite, bacon and eggs! 3 scrambled eggs and some chicken bacon. If you have never tried chicken bacon or are skeptical about it just try it! It is a staple in all my breakfasts.
Click the picture if you want to try some amazing bacon!
I ate my breakfast around 6:00 o’clock in the morning and then rushed off for a 7:15 tee time at Myakka Pines Golf Club. I wanted to get there early to get in some warm up. If you’re a golfer and live near here or plan on vacationing in the area I recommend that you try it.
Since I knew that I would be golfing while I was in Florida I brought my Taylor made TP5 golf balls with me…..
Because who leaves home with out their golf balls?
Only an amateur, plus I love the way they feel and play with there five layers.
I wish I had brought my golf clubs as well! My Callaways were missed, but instead I had to use some ancient no name rentals. Needless to say I survived.
If only they had these for rent i would have been in heaven! (These are my clubs by the way)
I know, like you care.
Anyway, in more Interesting news for you non-golfers (so yeah, that’s probably everyone) A fun fact about this golf course is that it is home to one of, if not the biggest, alligator in the world!
His name is Goliath.
The course was beautiful and in great shape which made for a great round of golf.
Heres the tee box view from the Goliath hole, isn’t it just stunning?
My golf round ends around 11:00 along with the cool morning breeze. It was starting to get hot! Id say approaching the high 90s or maybe 100 degrees. So a swim was my first priority as soon as I arrived home, yes even ahead of food.
Look at this pool! Doesn’t it make you want to put on a bathing suit and jump right in!?
Of course it starts raining as soon as I dive in for my dip. It is Florida….
It’s difficult to see the rain in the picture but it’s not foggy in the distance, that’s just a typical Florida Flash down pour. So I head inside for the grub.
Candy Corn Strawberries
- yellow melting chocolate
- orange melting chocolate
- white melting chocolate
- cover a plate or baking tray with parchment paper. Set aside
- Clean and dry your strawberries. Melt your yellow chocolate according to package directions. Dip your strawberries in, coating the entire berry all the way up to the stem. Place on the parchment paper and put in the fridge to quickly harden.
- melt the orange melting chocolate. Remove the strawberries from the fridge and dunk them in the orange melted chocolate coating them ¾ of the way up leaving a strip of yellow at the top. place back on the parchment and then in the fridge.
- melt your white chocolate and repeat with the strawberries like you did with the orange except only coat the very tip of the strawberry. They should look like candy corn.
- Place in the fridge to harden then enjoy.
I got a little side tracked making the strawberries, eating the ugly-looking ones and munching on some chocolate. Since I didn’t eat a big lunch I knew I was going to need a big tasty dinner.
Every time I go to Florida I always end up eating a meal our two out with the neighbors George and Bunny. This time they wanted to show me a new place we had never gone to before, Made In Italy.
I’m a big Italian fan my friends. I think I get it from my grandfather (Pops) because he’s part Italian too. After a quick look over of the menu I decided I just wanted some Pizza! I ordered prosciutto and pops went with cheese. Let me just tell you that this was the best gosh darn pizza I ever had! Magnifico!
The prosciutto with balsamic was so delicious. This was 100% the best pizza me and Pops had ever had in our lives! Normally when I find a food I love I try to recreate it but….. there’s just no copying this pizza and making it taste anywhere near as good!
Whats the best pizza you have ever had? Tell me about it, describe it, make me want that pizza!
