Blizzard Brody blew through the East Coast last Thursday cancelling my flight home to Connecticut. So I got stuck in Florida for 3 more days, not upset about that! I got unexpected days of warm weather eats.
I’m so sorry for all of you on the east cost that had to deal with the blizzard. I heard it was nasty! When I did my happy dance celebrating my flight being cancelled I momentarily felt guilty. However that passed the moment I grabbed my golf clubs and headed out for more time on the course. Sorry, not sorry.
I’m writing this post ahead of time since I will be busy in the next few days. I’ll be soaking up the sun enjoying my bonus days here and then traveling home on Monday. So all of you that have told me your jealous of my warm weather, blizzard escape, enjoy some of my Florida treats. Then take satisfaction in the fact that as your reading this I am back home to the bitter cold.
Blizzard Brody Escape Eats
On what I thought was my last day in Florida I did a bunch of meal prep to leave for my grandparents. That food now is going to good use in my tummy, like this Pecan Pie Oatmeal bake! Dessert for breakfast right here!
250 calories, great to make ahead and refined sugar-free. Plus just look at that gooey topping!!
After breakfast I headed out for fun shenanigans with my Pops (grandfather). We found this cool billboard which seemed perfectly fitting for the occasion.
Every time I go to Florida I stock up on Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. I thought I was leaving a stash behind but I finished off the last one for lunch along with Florida’s finest Strawberries.
Cocoplum Village Shops is my grandparents and my “spot” to hang when there is nothing else to do. It’s a cute little place close to the house that has a Starbucks and an amazing frozen yogurt shop. I hit both up! Dessert before dinner for the win!
(Sorry I didn’t get a picture of my yogurt, having too much fun if you can’t tell, but this chair called for a photo-op. with Pops)
Pre-dinner dessert was followed by good old Garage life. A staple Florida activity.
Avocado Chickpea Salad was on the menu for dinner. I didn’t get a picture of them so I’ll stick in one I have. We enjoyed the creamy chickpeas on a bed of greens with fresh fruit opposed to in sandwich form (mostly because we were all still full from the Froyo)
208 calories for the avocado chickpea salad, a crowd pleaser!
I had a great time in Florida and am thankful for the extra time to spend with my grandparents…..and the sun.
Were you effected by the blizzard?
Do you have somewhere you vacation often?
Dessert before dinner, it’s a must sometimes am I right?
